How does the free trial work?

Every plan starts with a 14-day free trial. You enter a card to start, but nothing is charged until day 15. Cancel anytime before that — from Settings, in a couple of clicks — and you pay nothing.

Is there a guarantee? What if Ranch.Bot is not for me?

Accepted Answer

Yes. The 14-day trial is free — nothing is charged until day 15. If you do start paying and Ranch.Bot is not right for you, email support@ranch.bot within your first 30 days as a paying customer and we will refund your first payment in full, no forms. After that, cancel anytime from Settings and billing stops at the end of your current period. Your records are always yours to export.

What will my bill look like?

One flat price. Solo covers one operator; Team covers up to three people, and extra hands are added at a flat per-person price. Any number of animals, any species, AI assistant included — there are no per-use charges and no meters. Pay yearly (the default, and cheaper) or month to month.

Question 4

I already keep records on paper or in a spreadsheet. Why switch?

Accepted Answer

Because finding an answer later stops being a chore. A quick note like "treated 542 for foot rot" becomes a structured record tied to that animal, so at weaning, sale, or a vet visit you can pull every treatment, birth, and movement by animal, group, or date. Entry stays as fast as the note you already take — and if you send us your current records, we will import them so you do not start from zero.

Do I need ChatGPT or Claude to use Ranch.Bot?

No. Ranch.Bot works in your browser on any phone, tablet, or computer — the AI assistant is built in. If you already use Claude or ChatGPT, you can optionally connect them to your records too.

Question 6

How is Ranch.Bot different from just asking ChatGPT about my herd?

Accepted Answer

A general assistant can talk about livestock, but it does not keep your records. Ranch.Bot stores your animals, groups, identifiers, and history as structured farm data — every treatment, birth, and movement saved to the right animal and ready to search months later. The two also work together: connect the assistant you already use, and it can look up and manage those same records.

Can I use Ranch.Bot from ChatGPT or Claude?

Yes. Ranch.Bot runs an MCP server, the open standard assistants use to work with outside tools. You sign in once from your assistant, and it can then look up and manage your farm's animals, records, and groups. Access is scoped to your farm and revocable anytime. You don't need ChatGPT or Claude to use Ranch.Bot — the web app does everything on its own.

Will an AI change my records without me knowing?

You decide who has access. In the Ranch.Bot app, every AI write is shown to you for review before it saves. If you connect your own assistant, that access only exists because you signed in to grant it — it is scoped to your farm, every change lands in your Change History, and you can revoke access anytime in Settings.

Isn't AI bad for farming — the data centers, the water, the jobs?

Accepted Answer

Some of it is fair. Data centers do compete for rural land and water, and skepticism of big tech is earned. But the build-out happens whether or not any one operation benefits — the only part a producer controls is whether their farm captures some of the value. Farming has always run on adopted technology: the diesel tractor, autosteer, the phone in your pocket. Used the same way, as a working tool, AI means better records and more information behind every feeding, health, and keep-or-cull call. AI use is included in your flat price, and in the app every AI write is shown to you for review before it saves.

Does it work out in the field, without good cell service?

Ranch.Bot runs in your phone's browser, so it works anywhere you have a signal — nothing to install, and entries are built to be quick on a phone. You do need a connection to save records today; offline capture is on the roadmap. In the meantime, a plain-language note typed or dictated in a dead spot can be pasted in when you are back in range, and Ranch.Bot turns the whole note into records in one go.

Can you import my existing records?

Accepted Answer

Yes — included with every plan, including the trial. Upload your current records right in the app — a spreadsheet, an export from other software, even photos of paper records — and we will load them into your farm, usually within a couple of days. Imports are handled personally, job by job, and we confirm what was brought in, so your trial starts with your herd and history already in place.

Does it work with EID tags and tag readers?

Accepted Answer

Yes — EID numbers are first-class identifiers in Ranch.Bot, alongside tag numbers, brands, tattoos, and names. On readers: Bluetooth readers that pair as a keyboard (HID mode) type the tag number into whichever field has the cursor, so they work in any browser with nothing to integrate. Livestock EID tags are usually FDX-B, so look for FDX-B support and test a reader with your own tags.

What animals and records does Ranch.Bot handle?

Cattle and sheep first — that is what Ranch.Bot is built and tested around. Create and update animals, track health treatments, record births, breedings, movements, and feedings, manage groups, and ask questions about your herd or flock — all in plain language. The same data is available in regular lists and tables when you want to browse it directly.

Can multiple people use the same account?

Yes — the Team plan covers up to three people, with more seats available at a flat per-person price. Everyone works from the same records, with roles and permissions, which makes it easy to coordinate between family members and hired help.

Question 15

Who owns my data — and what happens if I cancel?

Accepted Answer

You do. Your records are stored encrypted in transit and at rest, with automatic daily backups, and you can export everything from the web app at any time. If you cancel, billing stops at the end of your current period — your records are still yours to export. No lock-in, no exit fees.
