The predecessor
Grassland was the first attempt. Ranch.Bot is the rebuild.
The developer behind Ranch.Bot released Grassland.app through BetterCalves Ltd. to the iOS and Android stores in 2022 after beginning livestock-software customer discovery in 2020. A small number of producers used it, but regular use was limited and it never made revenue. Grassland is no longer published. BetterCalves Ltd. is part of that history, not Ranch.Bot's current brand or billing identity.
He retired it when another agriculture-software role and a newly purchased farm left too little time to support it properly. That history matters because it makes the lesson explicit: shipping an app is not the same as earning a place in the next production cycle.
Why rebuild it now
The same developer now has more than five years building production agriculture software, including technical ownership of business-critical systems. The commercial sheep operation is more established, and Ranch.Bot has his full-time focus.
Ranch.Bot was rebuilt as a new production system around Text-in, explicit review, structured livestock records, and later retrieval. Old Grassland accounts do not continue automatically. Ranch.Bot still has to prove regular use with external producers.
What works today
Text-in capture
After a short web setup, text a plain-language livestock note from the registered phone where cellular SMS service works.
Review before saving
Ranch.Bot prepares a proposed structured record in the web dashboard. Confirm, correct, or reject it before it saves.
Records you can retrieve
Search current records, use the inventory and movement report, or download the documented JSON and simplified CSV exports.

Email support@ranch.bot to ask what can be recovered from the retired product. Availability and completeness depend on the account and source records. Ranch.Bot can also run a supervised import from files you still have; nothing loads without review and approval.
