Livestock record keeping by text

Your note pauses for review before it becomes a record

Send a plain-language livestock note from your registered phone. Ranch.Bot proposes a structured record, and you decide whether to confirm it, correct it, or cancel it.

Nothing saves until you confirm the proposal.

Example

Message to Ranch.Bot · SMS
  • Moved the ewe lambs from South pasture to North 40 on Aug 23.

Confirm Action
Please review and confirm this action before it is executed.
  • Create record: Ewe lambs: South pasture to North 40, Movement, 2026-08-23

Current Text-in boundaries

The capture path is simple, but it still depends on the phone, connection, and review surface below.

Setup
Sign in on the web, create the farm, and enable Text-in from Settings → Account. Only the registered, opted-in phone can send notes to that farm.
Connection
Text-in needs cellular SMS service. Setup and dashboard review need a data connection.
Supported input
Send plain text from the registered, opted-in phone. Texted photos are stored, but are not shown in the conversation or extracted into records.
Retries and delay
The note is captured before processing, so the reply may arrive later. A carrier retry with the same message ID does not create another conversation turn.
Processing error
If processing fails, Ranch.Bot texts an error and asks you to try again or use the app. Nothing saves without confirmation.

Read the setup guide and export boundaries.

The 200-ewe field protocol pre-registers how this workflow will be measured on real farm events.
